此課程聚焦女性與佛教世界中的聯繫。首先從宏觀的視角介紹婦女研究史以及女性議題進入佛學研究圈的背景。進而從經典與佛教實踐兩個面向討論與女性的議題。學期後半段將以三大佛教傳統中的女性代表人物為討論對象，檢視她們的活動與入世關懷的成果

透過經典文獻、研究文獻的閱讀，了解「菩薩」定義與內涵的演變。
1 討論從早期契經、本生故事到大乘經典中，「菩薩」定義的演變。
2 討論波羅蜜的演變與內容。
3 討論從《大事》Mahavastu 開始，十地的演變。
4 菩薩形象的演變。
5 討論與菩薩相關的議題。
