1. Through reading classical Buddhist texts and scholarly articles, this course will examine the fundamental concepts and issues of Buddhist philosophy, and thereby demonstrate the interwoven relationship between the reading of texts and philosophical investigation.
2. A critical element of humanities research is developing insight and ability with respect to primary texts, supported by secondary sources consisting of scholarly research and reference material. Together, this leads to skills of critical thinking and argumentation.

2. Students will understand fundamental philosophical concepts in Buddhism. 

3. Students will determine the relationship between material in primary sources and secondary scholarship.
